How many 4,000 m peaks can you see from Gornergrat?

The 29, and the ones worth naming
Twenty-nine four-thousanders from one ridge is the claim, and it is the operator’s own. Three features carry the panorama. Monte Rosa’s Dufourspitze, 4,634 m, is the highest point in Switzerland and second in the Alps only to Mont Blanc. The Gorner Glacier lies below the ridge, about 12.9 km long and the third-longest in the Alps. And the Matterhorn is in front of you rather than beside you, which is the difference between this viewpoint and most others around Zermatt.
How that compares with the other mountain
Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, on the far side of the valley at 3,883 m, counts 38 four-thousanders and 14 glaciers across three countries. More peaks, and 794 metres more altitude. What it does not give you is the front-on Matterhorn, which is what most people actually came to Zermatt for. I set the two against each other properly on Gornergrat versus Glacier Paradise.
Count them from the platform rather than through a lens. The peaks are labelled on the summit panorama boards, and the 33-minute climb has already shown you the Matterhorn from the right-hand side of the train.
What else is up there, from ZOOOM the Matterhorn to the Golden Spot and the observatory towers at 3,120 m, is on what to do on Gornergrat.
